The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Leadership & Talent, supports the Vice President of Leadership & Talent in developing strong chapter leadership, building a healthy volunteer pipeline, and ensuring the effective coordination of volunteer engagement activities. This role is ideal for a chapter member seeking to grow in a leadership capacity and strengthen chapter operations through talent development best practices.
The AVP works closely with the VP, Leadership & Talent, Board members, and volunteer teams to help maintain a thriving volunteer experience that aligns with NNJ ATD’s mission and the ATD Chapter Affiliation Requirements (CARE).
Key Responsibilities
Support for CARE Requirements
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date written role descriptions for board and volunteer positions.
- Support updates to the chapter’s board roster and communications with ATD Chapter Services regarding board changes.
Board Support
- Contribute to the preparation of materials for Board slate announcements, membership votes, and new leader orientation.
Volunteer Engagement & Recruitment
- Assist in recruiting, screening, and matching volunteers to specific opportunities across the chapter.
- Maintain and update volunteer interest lists, volunteer needs, and matching records.
- Conduct initial volunteer outreach conversations and ensure volunteers complete intake information (interests, skills, availability).
- Help maintain the volunteer database/spreadsheet with accurate demographic and engagement information.
- Support the development of an end‑to‑end volunteer experience—from attraction to onboarding to active engagement.
Time Commitment
- Approximately 4- 6 hours per month, including monthly committee meetings.
