Position Summary:
The Vice President of Operations is an elected officer of the Chapter and is part of the Operations and Finance cluster. This position is responsible for identifying, implementing and maintaining the website and other technologies that will support board goals and improve member services.
Time Commitment:
Term: Two years
Estimated Time Requirements per month:
· Attending board meetings: 3 hours plus travel time
· Attending technology committee meetings: 1-2 hours plus travel time
· Attending monthly chapter meetings: 3 hours plus travel time
· Communicating with administrative office about routine issues: 2-4 hours
· Manages AVP Technology and AVP Administration volunteers
Responsibilities:
CORE Requirements:
· Ensure the chapter website meets the ATD brand identity guidelines
Technology:
· Research, develop and facilitate the sourcing of new ideas and concepts for using technological innovation to deliver enhanced services to members
· Assist with the planning and delivery of online learning, such as webinars, etc.
· Support board and chapter functions by providing web pages, publishing interface, surveys, discussions, webinars, online-forms, e-commerce and other features as appropriate
· Maintain Home page and update as needed
· Provide help in accessing and navigating our website
· Troubleshoot technical problems
· Collaborate with board vice presidents, event leaders, and committee heads to develop and post website content
· Deliver website training to Board and committee members
· Manage web host and software vendor regarding web needs.
· Check for jobs to be posted (donations tab); post jobs
· Create month web usage reports and forward to the NNJ-ATD Admin AVP
Qualifications:
· Solid information technology expertise
· Expert knowledge of HTML, notepad, website design, troubleshooting skills.
· All technology positions require special skills to work as a volunteer on the committee. This is due to the technical requirements to ensure that maintenance on the web site can be achieved as needed. Also knowledge of the technology industry in general is needed for topics which are outside of the website realm. Skill requirements:
o Tools and resources and how they work, such as Google applications, survey tools, etc.
o E-Commerce applications, such as merchant banks.
o The AVP of Technology needs the additional skills of understanding the web, web searching, web search engines, Web technology, etc. This is required to ensure that the requests coming from the membership can be met and to proactively trouble shoot web problems.
CALENDAR AT-A-GLANCE
WEEKLY
· Support users as needed
· Send credits to VP Finance as they are generated
QUARTERLY
· Check for number of contacts to ensure we don’t exceed our maximum; notify Marketing and Membership to archive as needed
· Develop a committee of web page supporters.
· Proactively review technology and implement to fill NNJ-ASTD membership needs.
· Develop committee members and fill committee positions to ensure continuity of the Executive Board.
· Proactively deal with NNJ-ATD web needs and communicate with webmaster.
· Run statistics from Google
ANNUALLY:
· Annual Technology plan
· Attend bi-annual retreats
· Complete the merchant survey in the month of January (work with VP Finance)
· Backup & Archive Files - Jan
· Propose and submit an annual budget by January 15 of each year
· Renew website – March and hosting – August 2015
· Review Star Chapter upgrades as they come out
